Product Development Intern

What You’ll Do
As a Product Development Intern, you’ll work side-by-side with the Max team to help design and shape features that make Max better. You’ll dive into real projects that bring user needs to life through research, prototyping, and iteration.

You will:

  • Brainstorm and prototype — Collaborate with the team to generate new ideas, sketch user flows, and outline prototypes to bring concepts to life.

  • Test and refine features — Gather feedback on new features, identify areas for improvement, and help prioritize what’s most valuable.

  • Define product details — Write product requirements documents to guide engineering and design.

  • Think like a student — Be a voice for our users, helping ensure the product is impactful and built for students like you.

Who We’re Looking For:
This role is great for a student who’s curious about how apps are built and wants to get hands-on experience in product thinking, design, and user-centered development. You don’t need a tech background or any coding experience—just a strong interest in how great products get made and a desire to help students like yourself.

You might be a fit if you:

  • Love solving problems — You enjoy noticing what’s not working and thinking about how to make it better.

  • Think like a builder — You’re curious, creative, and excited to turn rough ideas into real experiences.

  • Are organized and thoughtful — You like structuring ideas, and breaking big problems into smaller steps.

  • Care about students — You understand (and are!) the kind of student Max is built for, and you’re excited to improve their experience.

  • Communicate clearly — Whether it’s writing out ideas or giving feedback, you’re comfortable sharing your thoughts and collaborating with others.

  • Bring startup energy — You’re proactive, resourceful, and ready to roll up your sleeves and work on something meaningful.

Growth Marketing Intern

What You’ll Do

As a Growth Marketing Intern, you’ll be immersed in building and scaling how we reach and engage students. You’ll help us creatively grow awareness, build community, and drive student sign-ups and retention.

You will:

  • Help plan and run marketing campaigns that resonate with high school and college students, from ideation to execution.

  • Create standout content — Help develop engaging content for platforms like Instagram and TikTok that reflects student life and sparks interest in Max.

  • Student outreach — Connect with campus communities and student groups to share Max and spark word-of-mouth growth.

  • Track performance — Learn to set up experiments, test and evaluate effectiveness of marketing strategies.

  • Build community love — Find fun and surprising ways to make students feel seen, heard, and excited about Max.

Who We’re Looking For:

This role is perfect for a current student who wants hands-on experience in digital marketing, content creation, and growing a mission-driven startup.

You might be a fit if you:

  • Live online — You’re deeply familiar with platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and Discord, and you understand how Gen Z communicates.

  • Have a creative eye — You enjoy writing, designing, or editing content that feels relevant, funny, and engaging to students.

  • Love testing ideas — You’re curious about what makes people click (literally) and enjoy experimenting to find out.

  • Understand our audience — You can put yourself in a student’s shoes and know how to speak to their goals, struggles, and humor.

  • Bring startup energy — You’re resourceful, proactive, and excited to work on high-impact projects in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

User Research Intern

What You’ll Do

As a User Research Intern, you'll be embedded in product and community development from day one. You’ll help us deeply understand student needs and translate that insight into powerful product decisions.

You will:

  • Design and lead user research — Run qualitative and quantitative research to uncover how UW students learn, struggle, and thrive.

  • Fuel product development — Work with design and engineering to inform features through continuous research and iteration.

  • Build and grow student communities — Engage directly with UW students to co-create features, gather feedback, and deepen our impact.

  • Explore market trends — Stay plugged into how students use tech to learn, and where the next big shifts are happening.

  • Design experiments — Use data to test hypotheses, measure success, and identify opportunities to drive retention and growth.

  • Prototype with AI — Help us shape novel, AI-first experiences that make learning smarter and more human.

Who We’re Looking For:

This role is ideal for a current college student who wants to gain real-world experience in user research, product design, and startup building.

You might be a fit if you:

  • Know the research craft — You’re comfortable with interviews, surveys, usability testing, and pulling insights from both qualitative and quantitative data.

  • Think like a builder — You’re curious, creative, and excited to help turn ideas into reality.

  • Understand our audience — You relate to high school and college students and know how to speak their language.

  • Love data + empathy — You care about people’s stories and behaviors—and enjoy digging into the “why” behind the numbers.

  • Bring startup energy — You’re scrappy, self-starting, and energized by fast-moving, mission-driven work.
